The answer is no, not generally. However, SOME Realtors (as of late) are charging their Buyers a fee. The rationale is; they want to be paid for their time, whether you decide to buy or not. Many people don’t realize the (days/weeks/months) of work involved – in finding, negotiating & facilitating just the right home.
In truth, I don’t blame those Realtors. I’ve considered it – but, I work with (mainly referrals) people because I genuinely enjoy helping & sharing my wisdom. I don’t charge a fee, or hold a deposit. I am forthcoming about this & expect people will appreciate my unrivaled effort, diligence/experience…& remain loyal when it comes time to write an offer.
In truth, it makes no sense for a Buyer not to use a Professional. We’ve facilitated & negotiated thousands of Real Estate transactions & traded tens of millions of dollars worth of Real Estate. If we’ve only just met – it’s completely natural to be a bit guarded at the start; it keeps you on your toes. However, know this…Real Estate is our Full-time career & has been for over 20 years – I’m not going anywhere.
Although I certainly welcome new Clients, over 90% of my current business is generated by our past Clients. I worked hard for them in the past & continue to work hard to maintain their trust & loyalty. All of my Clients (at any time) are willing to be questioned about my performance.
